I feel as the decision of surgical vs. nonsurgical repair of rotator cuff tear is based on accurate quantification of extent and degree of tear.So does 3T MRI score over 1.5 T MRI so far as accurate quantification of degree of tear is concerned?
I could not find a study that compared between 1.5 and 3 tesla Mri in evaulation of rotator cuff injuries. one study compared 1.5 T to low field mri (0.2) which found a significant difference.
From my everyday practice, I can notice a better contrast and spatial resolution in 3 T mr images but this is just a subjective observation.
Regarding labral tear, previous study found a difference between 1,5 and 3 tesla mri.
one study evaluate 3 T mri to arthroscopic findings which reported high sensitivity and specificity.
