Yes this is probably a reality - and if they do not live longer lives than this generation, the quality near the end of their life might be greatly diminished. This has many reasons, which have been highlighted very well in the posts of William F. Hansen and Azedine Boulmakoul.

So here I look at it from another perspective. In Spain, when I consider the generation of my husband's mother, those that survived a harsh upbringing (due to the civil war and food shortages) , generally lived long and were healthy near the end of their lives.. But I have a feeling my husband's generation will not be quite so healthy as his mothers when they are nearing their end. And as for the younger generation, well I feel they too will not fair so well. I have asked myself why and one thing is the increased lack of the use of the "will" in people. When they get sick, they immediately medicate themselves. There is very little tolerance in listening to Natures message and instead of changing habits, symptoms are drowned out through medication. Through the use of our will, we can change habits and ways of living. However this requires trusting nature once again by connecting with ourr true essence or soul.. This lack of connection is reflected in the life styles of many people and also the way we are treating the earth. It is a vicious circle, but one which can only be broken by the youngsters themselves. However for them to be able to do this, we have to become role models for them.

We will have to listen to them. The current generation certainly evolves in a more polluted environment than before (air quality, quality of agricultural products, too fast information and manipulation of the media). The world today is more and more artificial. The value of time is convertible into economic utility, the meaning and the duty of humanity in declination. What to do to help them? Accompany them to better integrate the digital transformation of our society, through the development of collective consciousness: reading, philosophy and positive spirituality, sport, discovery of other countries and cultures, traveling. Teach them the values ​​of humanity, what we are, tolerance, sharing ... learning to protect the earth and its ecosystems through respect for life ... minimize the creation of waste, make technology a support at the service of humanity and not only for economic benefit. In summary, remind them what is human and put all the light on their way to find the answer ... so they will become eternal by the humanity's intelligence

It would be helpful to discuss why. Part of the reason why are those that have developed risky behavior, and young males are especially susceptable with a feeling of invincibility. Many things can shorten life prematurely, excessive speed, violence, drugs, smoking, driving through a flooded crossing, extreme activities as mountain climbing, risky friends, etc. Hopefully, we can reach and teach them early enough they do not succomb to poor or risky begavior patterns. Immediate gradification through drugs and similar risky behavior is impacting health and taking too many lives before their time. If they fall into this pattern, how can we help them emerge, grow up and beyond the death traps that are prematurely taking lives? Diversions into acceptable behavior patterns such as good spirited competative sports, fishing, golf, hiking, biking, etc. will help some. For me, group activities such as church camps and outings, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, sports, home chores, appropriate punishment for poor behavior, meaningful work to make money and develop confidence and orient attitude that life takes responsibility, consistency and hard work at times. Sitting behind a computer all day is also a risky behavior. Bullying or being bullied in various ways, intolerance of others, tantrums, being extremely poor, living in violence conditions are other patterns of life that may or may not affect longevity. As parents and grandparents, hopefully we can lead by example and reason, involvement, identify teachable moments rather than excessive sermonizing, etc. Hopefully we can recognize and detract from risky behavior and persons before they become engrained.

Life expectancy is a statistical (average) value with a large individualy varation. Tell your son that it's mainly on his own actions and decisions whether he will end up below or beyond average.

(For me it will be hard to beat our current "family record": a "grand-uncle" of mine (born 1900) reached 103 years.)

Obesity is only one of the factors to make the young generations die sooner.:

It's a mess and there are too much to say. To me, cut down medical cost is one thing that I can do for kids to reduce their stress.

Dear Tina,

Thanks for your comment and action taking to be their role model. I believe that you will. I like your projects that are important to be spread.

Our older generation has a longer life, even they experienced WW II. But, they were lucky to have less drugs with less health damage, less material enjoyment that they have more physical work to do and less financial stress with less material desires, less wrong medical information to hear. That all made them have a better and cleaner environment with longer life.

Will power and good habit should be built up while in young age. That's easier. I doubt that our next generation have this time to do for their kids? Maybe, we need to take care our grandchildren, in order to give them the needed education.

High stress, fast daily pace, too much Adv. with wrong info or partial truth made people think shallow, no patient and pursuing hyper in physical stimulation. It's the trend. The only break is to prove successful in a different way that is totally different with the current trend in order to make the changes. Otherwise, the right things be ignored.

Thanks for your valuable comment. Yes, you are right. To see what the grand or grand-grand parents can do to help save our future generations. We have done our jobs to raise kids and have time to do some contributions in family or to the public.

Most of my friends who have 3rd generation, they take care their grandchildren. I have none grand kid, so, I contribute to the public to correct the wrong medical info or share my clinical experience to turn people's life around.

I looked your background that you can make broad contributions. What do you do for your grandchildren or to the public? Pleases share to see if they can get expanded or promoted?

Absolutely, you are right. The young generation absorb faster and more info than we do. We ought to listen to their uniqueness thoughts. I enyoy to talk to my youngest son. He remind me many things that I missed.

However, the things that you talked is hard to talk with the generation that are raising kids, take high responsibility in a company and as an employee. If they are some kind of authorities, maybe, it is worth to talk to them and open a new vision to them.

China has a slogan: "Catch it from a young kid!" Under that, makes China shinning in the whole world now.

You have very noble thought. It covers very broad. Do I have the honor to learn what will you do to improve or reverse the current situation?

If everyone can do a little bit more or walk a step further to contribute, I bet, the world will follow you to be better.

Dear Frieda, do you know why your son (how old is he?) thinks or feels that he might have a shorter lifespan than we do? An open Socratic conversation with him might reveal his opinions and possible his fears. Objectively he is right about the facts: sky high medical cost, human mind and environmental pollution, wars, world competition. Plus, AI, robots take away job opportunities. I miss only one very important issues namely individual and group economic inequality (which increased enormously after the eighties of the last century). I he feeling that he might loose control over his life and that of his peers? In this humble comment I am trying to understand his psychic reactions since you are framing the behaviour of your son as the feeling that he might have a shorter lifespan. Thanks for your concerns. He has no fear. I totally agree with him. Mainly it is his observation and his feeling of job competition. We talk very openly. His concern is right. I agree with him based on the factors and the reality.

It is his generation's life span is shorter. But does not need to mean that my son has a shorter life span than I do.

You have a good communication with your kids, that's great.

Current time, I think that we have more tools and maturity to make more changes than they can do. Except I have a better financial ability to support them.

Actually, my sons have their own idea to make changes to be better for them. But, it's a long journey and a lot of investment.

Interesting issue!

Thanks for your answer Frieda. Our children have to learn to become activist, change the world in a better one without using violence. The wealthy are now up with there opinions but also the very excluded poor (we never experienced worldwide that much inequality). This polarisation should be broken. We have to give our children new tools like Deep Democracy or peace talks according to the Dalai Lama models. Anyway that is my opinion. Since I believe that we as human beings are able to change the world and earth in a more tolerant and just place.

Tina, Your child is very astute and is correct. Our generation has undermined future generations on ALL fronts. Jobs/Environment/Housing/Education/Automation/and a focus on war as a response to conflict. We couldn't have designed future extinction better if we tried.... in my humble opinion and experience. We ARE all culpable....

I hear what you say - however I feel we are ALL part of the problem but we are ALL part of the solution. So it is up to each of us to turn things around . In my opinion this means working spiritually and also in the third dimension. However, like Nature, we cannot tell others what to do- however we can inspire and encourage others.
