Village chickens have the potential to contribute positively to the nutritional status of indigent communities in Southern Africa. However, production and productivity of these valuable animal genetic resources is hampered by numerous constraints, among them suboptimal nutrition. Ethnoentomology, although neglected, is seen as one intervention that could optimize free range village chicken production among the poor who can not afford conventional -bought- in protein supplements. Insects such as the Mopane worm (Imbrassia belina), Stink bugs (Pentotomidae) and termites (Hodotermis) are usually abundant during the dry season, and any effort to produce, harvest and process these novel feed resources will go along way towards poverty alleviation and improving the food security situation of communities living in marginal drought prone environments. Against this background, I am very keen to collaborate in this study.

Yes i am very interest to do some experiments here in Mexico on using the insects as animal feed. we are ready to do some ruminal in vitro and in vivo studies on insect inclusion in animal diets.
