Thinking to the refugees number UE discussed to host (agreement on 32000 http://migrantreport.org/eu-ministers-agree-to-resettle-35000-refugees/ ) it will take 30 years to have in Europe 1 million people from north african and eastern countries. 1 million people is not a so huge effort or impact compared to 720 Millions of Europeans. With 10 Millions the impact could be an extra 1.4%. I suspect that UE difficulties and lack of politics is simply masking the UE needs to have new slaves without taking care of human rights and work legally recognized.

We have discussed  this issue in the thread initiated by dear Mario, which you have attached the link. 

As a social problem we have to address the root causes of the problem than the symptom - which is the exodus. Why do people leave their domiciles, it is because of their inability to live there. The reasons of their inabilities are many, but the main ones are political persecution and abuse of power, lack of freedom and absence of opportunities, reign of corruption and rule of injustice,  the complete failure of political structures of countries of these people to address these socio-political problems.

Social phenomena follow laws of nature in some sense in which there is always a tendency to create disorder and lose of closeness in human society as there are in the universe.Those who overcome the forces of detachment remain intact and attract those things around towards them to create more closeness and form solid and  regular spherical galactic objects with recognized orbit of their own while those who keep on running away, unable to keep things within them and unable to attract things around  remain small, weak, irregular or shapeless wanderers of the universe with no specific orbit of their own in most cases and if they have to be given a non planet status as Pluto. 

Human societies follow similar behaviors. In these cases outside and stable governments have huge role to play. If  governments do not care about their citizens then what is the reason other stable countries give financial aids and support to such governments? Aid of an out side in principle is to enable the receiver to to do good in order citizens get opportunities and enjoy freedom and live better in their own domicile. 

I do not know reasons why people from Asian countries leave their countries but I know the reasons why people form Africa in general and Ethiopian in particular are leaving their countries. Abuse of power, corruption, absence of freedom and lack of opportunities and the non existence of justice and yet, European and other western and eastern countries provide huge sums of aids to these governments which amount to strengthening the forces of detachment and disorder the very reasons of the exodus.

For instance Ethiopia is ruled by one minority ethnic group for the last 25 years, where freedom, liberty, political opposition and free speech are labelled as terrorism and imprisonment is the fate of any opposition. The same ethnic group recently won an election with a 100% public vote (the certainty and possibility  of an impossible)  displaying the absolute control of the group more than the world class North Korean one man rule.

And yet president Obama said in his recent trip to Ethiopia that the government is elected democratically, the more damaging alibi and a wanton erosion to the causes of order and stability and more destructive support to the forces of disorder and corruption. Therefore donor countries should indeed choose to be friends of truth, speaking truth to corrupt systems so that problems of societies be solved and people remain in their own countries. 

Aside from all the humanitarian principles that should be involved in helping refugees, a statement like that by the UK's premier is beyond cynical as many refugees come from countries that European powers (including the former USSR and now Russia) and the US have artificially created and then proceeded to manipulate, at times even sabotage, for decades, if not centuries.

Thanks for your contribution on the present situation in Europe.  I think this status quo differs highly of that of Brazil in the 19th century. I am afraid that poor German or Italian peasants might have been better educated than the average Brazilian in that time and the European settlers might have contributed to the development of your country.  Regarding the speech of the English Premier, this must contain also a political message to their voters in order to decrease the anxiety that was stirred up by the media. The governmental anxiety is partly understandable because for the European leaders this situation is rather an economic and domestic political trouble than a humanitarian action.

Regarding the responsibility for the vices of colonial past, you are right.  However, the politics do not know the qualms of conscience and deals mainly with the actual troubles and aims. Practically, they do not need badly educated people seeking for social services.

Many thanks for your valuable – general and particular analysis of this shocking but frequent situation. You have listed the potential causes of the exodus: “Abuse of power, corruption, absence of freedom and lack of opportunities and the non existence of justice” but one can add also the outrage of terrorism and war present in some areas.  The unwilling or accidental – I hope so - remote control of supporting undemocratic governments by aids is a very problematic practice of western countries. This is often an alibi custom and a manifestation of the bad conscience.

Scientists in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan etc. could specify why citizens of their countries are escaping from their motherlands. What have done neighbouring countries to help refugees in this human catastrophe?

At the end of 2014, the countries with largest number of refugees were Pakistan and Turkey. In India herself, there were more than 20,00,000 refugees including the Tibetan government in exile. The refugees were mainly from Tibet, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia, Palestine, Myanmar, Iran and Iraq. They were Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Muslims and Zoroastrians among others. 

What I do not understand is that if the home of your neighbour is gutted in fire and if their relatives do not help them, would you as human beings and neighbours also deny to help them? We come up with various logics and statistics which are all waste in context of humanity, morality and ethics. Whatever resources we have, we should learn to share it with those in need. It is ironic that we have established thousands of social service organizations and give millions in charity,but, on the other hand we question when we are in a position to actually help those who are in the greatest need. Are we afraid that if we give them equal chance, they may outshine us; or our charities are only in such a way that the receivers may never come up to our own positions ?

We should rethink our morals.

The mass exodus of Africans and Asians becomes, day by day, increasingly difficult to handle. In any case, the people that flee from war, fierce dictatorships or hunger, they must certainly be welcomed on the best of possibilities by all "rich" countries. Europe is definitely doing its part. It is necessary that all other "rich" countries also doing the same. In addition, "rich" countries must work to create better living conditions in the countries of the emigrantes as to encourage people not to emigrate.

I have studied in philosophy that freedom is the recognised necessity. What do you call as too much freedom? I have written for several times that each folk should fight for its own freedom. Freedom cannot be received like a present. Fighting for the freedom is a process, a process needed to be able to understand and evaluate freedom. Although, Hungarians paid a lot, even many thousands of human lives for the freedom, many of us have been not able to understand and use freedom. We need still about 50-100 years. Who knows?
