The uniqueness of depression is that the base of depression, on the basis of which depression occurs, is present in 99% of the population. 99% of the population are susceptible to depression, since the cause of depression is a violation of certain physiological processes in the human body, which of course are common to all people (all people in the body have the same physiological processes). Therefore, at 10, 20 or 40 years, depression is one and the same basic disorder, which can manifest itself in different ways due to different stresses at different ages (stresses are triggers of depression at any age).
Béatrice Marianne Ewalds-Kvist I read your paper on depression, anxiety, and hysterectomy, and this paper strongly illustrates that it depends on the levels of it. But also I guess this something evident
My darling, First of all, one must distinguish between being stressed and being depressed. The emergence of a depressive episode in a person can be influenced by stressful situations in the life of the individual, but also by other factors such as resilience, psychological mechanisms (it is not as stressful a situation as the way an individual perceives or lives it), own strategies for coping with stress, or family or social support. Let us not forget either that a significant proportion of depressions appear without any direct link to external circumstances: they are genuine endogenous depressions. And second, clinical depression can appear in individuals of any age, from childhood and youth to the most advanced ages of life. Although with different nuances (irritability is characteristic in adolescents, apathy may be more marked in the elderly ...). I hope I have helped you Enric
Yes, your answer did enlighten me to understand this topic better and I agree Enric Aragonès that although stress and depression both hold different meaning while one is a feeling, other is a clinical disorder but i guess the root cause of the problems are same. And what i meant by asking this question is that i accept and acknowledge that everyone have their own story and struggle in life. But what i have learned it as if we see ''problems of today" as the biggest we have faced, it will be difficult for us to survive later! :)
