Two years back, I purchased a cryogen free mini VSM (0-5T) from a reputed manufacturer. Since the pick up coil (which is a very small part of the system but obviously the important one with respect to the measurement) failed, I have asked a quote for new spare pickup coil. I am shocked when I saw quote. The cost is 9000 UK Pounds. I never imagined that I need to spend so much for a small pickup coil. Though I insisted that the company should provide one extra coil along with the main system, they neither provided a coil nor indicated the cost. Now I understood the trap.

If I start procuring spares one by one at these rates, the cost of the system could be several fold of the initial cost.
