@TIto: I used a ZEBRA/BZLF1 staining but this is expressed in a very small number of cells. I would like to know if there is a lytic EBV protein that is expressed in more cells and for which an antiserum is available (to check I use a lytic JIjoye cell line). I will look up BRLF1 and look for papers.
@Leonie: Thanks, but I already have products to check for EBER and LMP1 (also for LMP2, EBNA1 and EBNA2, which are latency proteins). Currently I am more interested in lytic proteins.
For late lytic antigens (you didn't specify) there should be VCA (capsid antigen) antibodies around. And there is a monoclonal antibody against gp350. No idea if they are suited to IHC though. Perhaps best to fix some lytic and latent LCLs and just test them yourself. (remember that many latent EBV-positive cell lines spontaneously have a low level of lytic activation - BZLF1 should control for this proportion nicely though.
