I’m looking for research regarding touch interaction vs. mechanical switches in vehicles, ideally with direct comparisons, e.g., at the steering wheel, center screen or the floor console.

The only recent study I know was done by Vi Bilägare (Swedish car magazine, from 17. Aug 2022) which is super interesting, but not really a scientific one.

There are some studies out there where the distraction by touchscreens was measured, while I’m looking for what happens with touch sensitive buttons without an underlying screen.
