Dear colleagues,

I am currently conducting research on the criteria used to select pancreatic donors for islet cell transplantation and would greatly appreciate your insights on the following aspects:

  • Amylase Levels: What are the accepted amylase level thresholds for pancreatic donors, and how do elevated levels impact the quality of the islets for transplantation? Is there any research indicating a direct correlation between high amylase levels and the success of islet cell isolation and transplantation?
  • Alcohol Abuse: How does a history of alcohol abuse in a potential pancreatic donor affect the suitability of the pancreas for islet cell isolation? Are there specific guidelines or studies addressing the long-term impact of alcohol-related liver disease or other complications on the quality of pancreatic tissue for transplantation?
  • I would be grateful for any published studies, clinical experiences, or expert opinions on these matters.

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Best regards,

    Natalia :)
