Biodegradable bags or plastics are materials that can decay naturally in the soil after a period of time from their production, use and disposal.
Are there any standard methods for measuring the biodegradability rate of biodegradable shopping bags/plastics?
ASTM methods are american test and UNI EN ISO are european tests. I suggest to use the Uni EN ISO 14855 or UNI EN 13432.

Appreciate all the invaluable resources and helpful feedback. Consideration is being given for both ASTM and Uni EN ISO methods for now. The starting point though is to identify the types of biodegradable bags being used in the local/national context seeing that most of them come in unlabelled, for instance which one would be an ox o-biodegradable compared to one made of starch? From here then can measurements based on the methods above be applied.
