The absence of shearing mixing specifications for asphalt rubber is still a black point in the agencies specifications despite its high effect on the viscosity of the final asphalt rubber so there is a need to fix these shearing forces in correlation to mixing temperature and mixing time.

Besides mixing temperature and time, the properties of asphalt rubber are also related to the exerted mixing energy. This is dependent on the mixer type and mixing speed. Currently there is not a well-defined specification which fixes the mixing speed. It is always condition dependent.
