I guess it really depends what outcome you are interested in?  Longevity, patient preferences, aesthetics?

You could have a look at the Cochrane systematic review I've attached but it's  a bit out of date now and we are updating it.  I have also attached a couple of other papers but both use the Hall Technique for placing PMCs rather than conventional restorations.

If these are no help, I can point you in the direction of some other.
