It appears that anxious and avoiding attachment styles are over-represented in a chronic pain population. There appears to be very little in the literature proposing or studying attachment directed interventions with intention of increasing inter-personal skills for clients to enhance their abilities to co-regulate emotional states. The working clinical hypothesis would be that the chronic pain process is reflective of inadequate emotional dyadic coping strategies. Can anybody point me to such publications?
