Some tried with process granularity. But I can`t remember the name. But you should clearify first which kind of "power" you are speaking of:

* Power to lead the supply chain by talking (in reality on which basis or given by actualities?)?

* Power to shut down the supply chain by mistake or by purpose?

* Power to dictate fees and margins?

* Power to dictate the speed within the supply chain?

or what else?

And you should look on power shifts.  Looking at power, you learn a lot more, if you do research on changes - also to describe situations.

In fact, I am working on project to prove that modularity increases suppliers' knowledge and flexibility, which in turn increase the supplier's power position in the supply chain.  I couldn't find any article considered those issues.
