VFA Production from wastewater fine screen screenings via anaerobic fermentation is aimed. The produced VFAs will be used in wastewater to increase the concentration of the VFAs, thus improving the phosphorus removal. The reactor that I have can take up to 100 kg of screenings. I am looking for some enzymes that can make the process faster and also will produce more amount of VFAs. Also, if you can recommend me some disintegration methods for this process, I will be very much appreciated. Thank you all for your kind help.

I recently read a bit about some commercial enzyme mixtures that aim at improving anaerobic digestion. There has been some doubt about their economic value, but giving the scale of your experiment, this might be a good option. I doubt that these companies would disclose the exact composition of their product but you can ask or analyze it yourself.

If I understand what is desired is to convert the short fines from the waste stream to produce VFA's. then consider using Managed Ecosystem Fermentation. It has shown it can breakdown these short cellulosic fibers that are found is sewer cake. Attached is a photo of the lab results and a paper covering the subject that was published june 2015 in the Journal of Sustainable Development titled "Products From Organic Waste Using Managed Ecosystem Fermentation". The MEF process generates the enzymes needed to break down the fiber using a natural process.
