Are there any countries where dentists can't use Botox?
In Japan, oral surgeons were previously eligible to use Botox. However, at present, neither dentists nor oral surgeons can participate in Botox therapy qualification courses in Japan.
The situation is the same as in Japan before. I qualified for Botox nearly 30 years ago. However, currently in Japan, even OMFS does not allow Botox qualification. We have just begun negotiations with a pharmaceutical company with the help of the Dystonia Patients' Association to enable OMFS in Japan to use Botox.
Fortunately, I am qualified to use Botox. However, when a young oral surgeon tries to start Botox treatment, he cannot. There is no successor to the botulinum toxin therapy I have been doing for 30 years. That is a big problem.
I hear, physicians and dentists can use botulinum toxin in Korea exactly the same.
I think it's strange that oral surgeons or dentists can't use Botox, even though they are more familiar with oral anatomy and masticatory muscle function than neurologists. I believe that oral surgeons or dentists should also be allowed to use Botox if they have some knowledge and experience with Botox, EMG and neurophysiology, or involuntary movements.
Thank you very much for your interesting information.
Can dentists use Botox for any disease in the head and neck region in Poland?
The applications of Botox in the head and neck region include oromandibular dystonia, blepharospasm, cervical dystonia, hemifacial spasm, facial synkinesis, orolingual dyskinesia, functional (psychogenic) dystonia, trigeminal neuralgia, orofacial pain, temporomandibular disorder, temporomandibular joint dislocation, bruxism, palatal tremor, hypersalivation, Frey syndrome, gummy smile, and square mandible. Or are some of these diseases? Are they officially approved as indications? I would appreciate it if you could answer.
I can expect that if all dentists can use Botox, it can cause some problems.
Do you know whether a dentist or oral surgeon has any requirements to use Botox in Brazil? I believe that oral surgeons or dentists should also be allowed to use Botox if they have enough knowledge and experience with Botox, EMG and neurophysiology, or involuntary movements.
Legally, dentists have a minimal time of course tô be habilitated on Botox and dermal fillers, but on real life, anyone with graduation degree can do it.
I am eager for dentists to be able to use Botox in Japan as well.
I'm working with the Dystonia Patients Association to ask GlaxoSmithKline, which sells Botox in Japan, to be available to dentists, but it seems difficult.

I was informed that Botox is approved in the following 100 countries. However, I do not know what indications are available in each country. If you know, I would appreciate it if you could tell me.

Thank you for your comment. Sorry for the late reply. Botox is not officially approved for the oral area in Japan. However, practicing dentists use Korean or Chinese botulinum toxin for cosmetic dentistry. There is such a dual structure, but I think it will be regulated in the near future.
