What is the best special stain to use to diagnose colorectal cancer from tissue samples collected from a biopsy? or is there a certain technique for the staining?
Agreed with amanda, we (pathologists) use Hematoxylin and eosin staining (standard histological coloration). The diagnosis of colon cancer is obvious (architectural and cytological atypia) in most cases with these stains (without further special stains needed to identify tumoral material).
