The Alkali Activated Concrete (AAC) is an environmentally friendly alternative to Portland Cement Concrete. How ever, the use of mineral or inorganic activators such as sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate make the environmental footprint of AAC high. There are some proposals for manufacturing these activators from waste glass and rice husk ash (see attached). Even these manufacturing procedures are very energy-intensive.

It would be great to know about any alternative natural high alkaline agents (from waste biomass) that can be used as an activator in AAC. Any information would be much appreciated.
