What is the impact of CMM level certificate in industry practice (apart from contract signing)?

How to get the CMM level certificate?

Is CMMI level certificate guarantees that the company follow it for all future projects?

(i) Assuming there are types of software companies (service/product based), the complimentary players from non-software would also be there. And if yes why can't they go for the CMMi Level Certification?

For instance we had attempted to evaluate if education industry could be prepared to achieve CMMi Level Certification? and the answer to question was yes.

(ii) The impact of CMM level certificate in industry practice (apart from contract signing) is Capability to repeatedly meet reliability of products/ services - through control of processes?

Once the practitioner is convinced the question of "How to get the CMM level certificate?" can arise.
