It's certainly possible, but very rare. Even more difficult now!
Journals used to publish for academic advancement, now they publish for profit. When you publish in a quality one, you will have to pass your copyright to them. They will either keep it, or sell it on. Now, you can only republish the item with the copyright holder's express permission, in writing!
In the good old days, they were often willing to grant permission for articles to go into a "collected works" of a single author. Also, they might grant permission for a collected works of many authors on a single topic.
These days, profit is king. I doubt they'd do it unless they will make money from it! A sorry tale of greed really, but there it is! Get permission....
