Are interpretive phenomenological analysis and Symbolic interactionism compatible in any way?

I am doing my first research project considering wellbeing in a community art setting and I hope to understand both individual experiences and group understandings. So would like to use both interpretive phenomenological analysis and Symbolic interactionism. I keep seeing that these approaches are philosophically incompatible can someone tell me why?
