Sounds interesting but I personally feel we should stop this continuous pathologizing of mental states and treat them yes as courageous attempts to approach the meaning of things. The necessity of diagnosing others seems suspect as doing so implies certain aspects in the one doing the diagnosing. In the world we live in living is our only real commitment.

Agree that we should stop the continuous pathologizing of mental states. Some so-called disorders are actually normal physiological conditions of our body, and need to be understood and treated properly.

For example, all medical practicers regard anorexia as a mental problem. Yet, my personal experience clearly shows that it is a normal physiological condition for some people. While there are around 1% teenagers are anorexia, this ratio increases with age. 25% of old people aged 75 and above haVE anorexia. If anorexia is treated properly with the Luigi Cornaro diet, this condition can turn out to be a most healthy and favorable lifestyle for a illness-free happy long life.

As scientists we are limited by what we can measure. When we come up short on measurements we have psychological, mental, religion, mysticism . . .

The irony is that most doctors were taught how to measure injuries to the cranial nerves but we fail to make the connections between those findings and the autonomic nervous system. Understanding how these nerves respond to trauma and their effect on the sympathetic system opens the door to addressing those injuries and in turn causing changes.

We tend to have an emergency room approach to healthcare focusing on stopping the bleeding and setting the fractures. That is of course important to survival but we tend to remain ignorant of the trauma associated with the system that is all about survival.
