Agreed with what Pisipaty had shared - code of conducts contribute partly to success as there are other factors contributing to success. Personally finding code of conducts influence more on compliant from employees / practitioners / professionals etc.

Yes, they are the foundation to every organization and the moral fabric. If there is no code of ethics to follow it would be like a building with no or poor foundation which is likely to collapse during severe weather. Thus an organization that follows ethics and morals soundly would be able to defend itself during crises and would survive. In recent times we have seen organizations like Enron some banks, and AIG experience their share of problems.

But there are a few companies that think differently about codes of conduct. For example, I'm impressed by Nordstrom's one page employee handbook which states, "Welcome to Nordstrom. "We're glad to have you at our company. "Our number one goal is to provide"Outstanding customer service. "Set both your personal and professional goals high. "We have great confidence in your ability to achieve them."Nordstrom Rules, Rule number one, use your good judgment in all situations. There'll be no additional rules. Feel free to ask your department manager, store manager, or division general manager any question at any time. Do you support a policy / code of conduct like Nordstrom's?

Until now - from my research perspective - I was mainly focussing on Codes of Conducts of the (Public Health or Medical) Profession. Your perspective is an interesting additional field I didn not come across too much in the literature. Can you maybe recommend some literature?

As a thesis I would say: CoC are neither necessary nor sufficient for good and right action. But they can be helpful tools.

In general, I disagree.

Code of conducts cannot be applied to all forms of success. Mutual benefits could overcome common code of conducts.

To response, I like to open my case from which number of questions can be answered: High Quality and Well Documented;

Also opens hidden issues for "un-tapped" cases.@

Code of conduct should be practical and flexible , moldable as per convenience and needs of users

A code of conduct is not uniquely defined. It may, for example, be a guide to good and safe practice in medicine. Or it may present norms for interpersonal behaviour. Eitherway, codes present an approach that may be mandatory in a profession or social situations (eg a dress code in a golf club). People in medicine often equate compliance with the codes and being ethically sound. This is a mistake and the requirements of codes often fall short of what is morally necessary. In practice, I believe it is now common for people to use codes to protect themselves from having to think through the requirements for an ethical and moral stance.

Yes. Code of conduct is a basis of successful life...it is the totality of one person.

Code of conduct has more real value for the foundation when the line of work deals with a life and death situation, or being prone to high risk accident and damages. One of the ways to know that your 'code of conduct' is actually contributing to the foundation's success is to use the statements as benchmarks in the working process and results.
