I have the following setup see picture. Can anyone suggest me which modules of Raspberry Pi can read data from he R&S®NRP-Z81 Wideband Power Sensor and parallel also log gps location on an SD card. Next this data should be made visible on a screen (so I need a module that can read the gps location and the associated power that has been stored) and display both. With in x,y postion the location and in z direction the field strength. Which modules should I use for the sections A,B and C. I am totally new to Arduino and raspberry pi.
For what you want to do, it would be possible with Raspberry (GPiO) and without Arduino, you would have to program in Python. With the raspberry:
1 - You can use an external screen or own display for the raspberry; Another option would be to access remotely, not needing a screen attached to raspberry pi, this is usually done that way.
2 - To save the data, you have to use a USB to SD adapter, so you could connect another SD card only to the sensor data;
3 - You will need to condition the sensor signal, which I believe is the most difficult at the moment, because you will have to study because there is no such thing on the internet for thats sensor.
Take a look at Adafruit products they have plenty of products for your needs including GPS module, SD card module, display module, micro-controller, etc with flexible means of connectivity and they are all compatible with each other with reasonable price.

For this particular application, Arduino will be better choice due to
1. Arduino is capable of reading analog input signals without any external ADC interface unlike Raspberry pi.
2. Arduino provides realtime performance whereas using the GPIO library of Pi does not provide real-time performance.
3. You could easily use interrupt approach to make your application more robust if you use Arduino.
Seeing enormous features of Raspberry pi, it might sound like Raspberry Pi is superior to Arduino, but that’s only when it comes to software applications. Arduino’s simplicity makes it a much better bet for pure hardware projects.
As in your case it doesn’t need a lot of computing power, don’t use a full-sized Linux PC like the Raspberry Pi.
But if you want to use some networking features like wireless network etc. then you may use Raspberry. Luckily Arduino also provides a dedicated solution for that too. [google for Arduino yun]
To sum up the whole thing: you don't need all the luxury of raspberry Pi for your particular application. Arduino will be better for the application.
[Note: Raspberry GPIO can read only digital signals.]

I'm not familiar with the sensor you are trying to read but you should be aware that the Raspberry Pi needs kernel modules developed to read specific equipment. I faced that problem myself with some digital temperature sensors and the solution I came up was to use both, I read the sensors from the Arduino and then send a string through a serial port to the raspberry pi.
