As an evolutionary creationist myself, I'm curious to hear your thoughts regarding the statistics on those who hold young-earth views (which I judge to be scientifically indefensible). How big is the young-earth problem?
My friends share the timeline saying we are on a microsecond of the cosmic scale !!!!
I believe it too ...
I don't believe that earth came to existence with us , it was there and continue to be there unless the gravitational force of sun collapses everything or a black hole or an asteroid or we ourselves ...

No doubt, you are referring to the idea of a universe that is merely 6000 years old. Let's say, whatever percentage believe this, that's too high.
And I say this even for religious people. There is no reason to think that the universe is only as old as the generations of people mentioned in Genesis. This is an artificial construct with no basis. The human being has a special knack for inventing problems and polemics, and this is certainly one perfect example.
However, I very seriously doubt that anywhere close to 50% of the US population is that delusional. Or, I hope not.
There is an issue with how the various polls are conducted. Some seem to force respondents to choose between a non-theistic, evolutionary option and a full-blown creationist one, ignoring all of the possible mediating positions. A 2014 poll showed that 42% of the US are “Creationists”, Newport 2014, while Swift 2017 puts it at 38%. Such polls are imprecise according to Hill 2014, who finds that only 8% of Americans subscribe to strict young Earth beliefs. I suspect Hill may well be right but I haven't done any studies of my own.
