Hello,
I want to apply calcium silicate (CaSiO3) to wheat plants for resistance induction against aphids under laboratory conditions by using soil and foliar application. Can anyone please tell me after how many days of seedling, CaSiO3 application will be better for potted wheat?

Hi Bilal,
If you allow the Ca silicate about 1-2 weeks to react after thoroughly incorporating it into your soil, that should be sufficient, but make sure you moisten the soil at the time of incorporation (perhaps to 50% pore space?), and a subsequent drying and wetting cycle will also help it to react, given that it is basically a lime. Si uptake should start as soon as the silicate starts to solubilize. If you have a more acid soil it should solubilize faster. I can't comment on the foliar application - we have never gone that route.
