Interesting issues. I deal with new online media, including social media portals, but I have not researched these types of issues. What I researched, I described in the following scientific publication:
Article THE QUESTION OF THE SECURITY OF FACILITATING, COLLECTING AND...
Great topics you have here. I have not researched any of these issues, however it would be nice to share your thoughts on them when you eventually get something.
Dindin Dimyati I am looking to connect with researchers across the globe who might be working in these areas since I have my students working on these subjects and I wish that my students connect with other researchers working on the same topic.
Travel Journalism: an interesting topic. I haven't seen a research paper on the topic. wondering if i can discuss more on what it is all about from your student(s).
I would like to appreciate and may be respond in a slightly different way to the following issues or questions raised by Nidhi Niranjan Shendurnikar.
In my response to your questions, I would like to provide some comments and suggestions as well to the specific issues that you have mentioned here below.
As someone working who is familiar with media practice, on Travel Journalism, I would need more information on the specific travel industry, because there are different travel sectors like air, water, rails, or roads. These are all areas for journalism specialisation. If you specify them, I would be interested in doing analysis or critiques of the same.
On the subject of media images of masculinity and feminism, I think, one of the best ways of approaching these are through a methodology called Content Analysis. And there is a lot to be said about CA.
As a person who is familiar with these concepts, I also ask that you align them to specific contexts or situations or systems. It said that the media or the press are the mirrors of the society they operate in. So we need to consider the social-cultural, economic, environmental, amd political practices.
We also need to look at the international policies, systems, or conventions regarding human rights to freedom of information, gender equality, sexual health and reproductive rights, CEDAW,, or national constitutions, for example.
So if you narrow the scope of your investigations, from the point of views of context, concepts, or theories, CA in tandem with other methods, can be very useful in examining factors like; Feminist Advertising, Media and Masculinity, Social Media Feminism?
Otherwise, these are very critical issues in the real life and they need to be resolved for by mainstreaming gender equality in media houses, media policies, inline with the letters and spirits of the SDG 5, CEDAW, and .universal declaration of human rights notwithstanding our national constitution.
