I'm evaluating the use of the ImageJ software to measure shrinkage and possibly collapse on Eucalyptus discs and eventually cores from standing trees. Getting images with a scanner (wet and dry) seems best at this stage, however I'm not sure if one can apply a macro of sort to automatically measure distances between points or core edges. Manually drawing lines and measuring for each sample (in wet and dry) seems very tedious. Also, all samples might not be exactly the same length and size.

Opinions and advice will be much appreciated!
