Hi. If you already have manuscript with bibliography and you want to remove DOI or URL from being shown in bibliography then Open your word file and click References tab>Open Mendeley. You should be directed to Citation style tab now if Mendeley was already open. If not then Select view in Mendeley>Citation styles>More styles. Now right click the style which you are using and select Edit style. Now a new Webpage should open and lead you to Visual CSL editor. Wait for it to load as it will take time depending on your connection speed. Select Layout under Bibliography>Conditional>If DOI. Click on If DOI and then click the - sign on the top of that panel next to +. If you also want to remove URL then click Conditional>Else>access (macro)>conditional>If URL>If URL (variable). Click on If URL (variable) and then click - on the top of the panel. Now move to STYLE tab in the same webpage, just above style info, and click Save as. Give your style a name and click save. This will be a new edited style now. The DOI and URL should be removed from references by now. If not restart Mendeley or Sync it, then open word file>Reference>Open mendeley>View>Style>More styles and now select the style you named> Click Use this style and click Done at the bottom. DOI and URL will be gone by now and adding new reference won`t show DOI as well.

What if One wants to have DoI in a reference style like IEEE that does not output Doi in the bibiliography in Mendeley or Endnote ? how does the editing go

Mwangi Karanja and Ahmad Aljabr, for adding DOI to IEEE style, please follow these instructions.

Open your Mendeley and sign in. Now open your word file with bibliography you want to add DOI to. Make sure you have already selected the style to IEEE. In the word file, go to References tab and click Open Mendeley. You should now see Citation styles tab of Mendeley with IEEE selected. Right click the IEEE and select Edit style. You should be directed to CSL editor now. In the CSL editor, generally a window should appear asking style already exist etc… In this window, select create a new style based on IEEE and give it a name for the new style. You can name it like IEEE DOI etc. or any other name you like. Click ok. Now click on BIBLIOGRAPHY on the left side of the screen in CSL editor. (click in a manner that the BIBLIOGRAPHY is selected and highlighted in blue). Now click the + sign on the top (near style info). A new window box should appear, click text in this new window. This text will now be added under the BIBLIOGRAPHY. Click on the text. Select Type dropdown box in the middle of the screen and select variable. In the Variable dropdown box, select DOI. In form, select long. In affixes > Prefix, type . doi:

And now click the style tab just above style info and save your style. Now sync Mendeley. Now open your word file>Reference>Open mendeley>View>Style>More styles and now select the style you named> Click Use this style and click Done at the bottom. DOI should appear now. I hope it helps.

If it's confusing, you can just select and delete the DOI part in the example reference shown on the Mendeley website itself. Then, save the style and choose that style on both Mendeley and Word (might need to click "refresh" on the references tab as well).

When you open the Mendeley referencing software, go to tools and select options and click on document details, you will find out that there several parameters that used to appear in your reference, from the list you will find DOI in the list and then select DOI. I hope the answer is beneficial.
