I have a lot of doubts about the effects of the chemical substances that can be released from the plastic bottles of water.
These chemicals can be dangerous, right?
I found a magazine about this (http://www.foodsafetymagazine.com/magazine-archive1/aprilmay-2009/the-safety-of-beverages-in-plastic-bottles/), but the author said there´s no risk on this bottles.
Anyone knows about some studies that help me to understand this and, also to recongnize if this information is a hoax?

In general when we refrigerate the plastic water bottles for longer hours there will be a release of some dioxins from it. Similarly there will be some dioxins released when these plastic water bottles are exposed to milder heat for longer hours.
A lot has been researched on food grade plastics now as the article is 8 years old, could be considered out dated by many pls try for a deeper research and insight into it.
well, it depends on company and safety procedures before it reach you.
but after the consumer took it the save processing of bottles in refrigerator or from sun or other indication is the responsibility of you.

If plastic bottle is of good quality, it will work well. If it is stored for long period, it is necessary to keep in cool place.

In addition, to avoid releasing dioxins compounds from plastics we could use them at ambient temperature (not in warm or freeze conditions) just once or twice then get rid of simply.
Water is a great solvent and it has the ability to dissolve the components or chemicals in plastic bottles. When we store the water in plastic bottles for a longer duration it may result in release of chemicals like dioxins and with that temperature will also play significant role in this. Higher temperature may trigger the release of chemicals.
I think there is still some good debate on this issue. Temperature, UV, and bottle aging still need further investigations. Initially, with the release of Theo Colburn's "Our Stolen Future" book, there was a lot of worldwide concern about plastics and endocrine disrupting compounds. The debate and research in this area should continue, but must studies suggest that endocrine disrupting compounds (estrogenic mimcs from phthalates in particular), do not seem to be a major risk, however, there have been a few studies where they have observed an effect. It's important to remember, not all plastic bottles are created the same way or in the same locations. In addition storage times, aging, temperature, UV exposures, etc. can dramatically influence the chemicals in the bottle material. Good luck getting your answers, there is nothing wrong with personally practicing a precautionary approach if you are able to do so personally.

If water bottle is made up of good plastic quality and store properly means with tight cap and in cool place ,the probability to release the chemical substances is almost negligible.
