. Because in my case i have to optimize 18 of parameters in HEC-HMS. It is very difficult to do it manually. If some one have please be kindly send me that algorithm. If it is in an excel format, then that will be very easy for my research. Please be kindly help me if someone knows it.

Since you intend to optimize your model parameters in Excel, I recommend you use the Solver Add-in. It comes with the standard Excel software, but you may have to install it. Solver is a powerful optimization tool for linear and non-linear problems and you can even impose a large number of constraints. You can use Help in Excel to know how to install and use it. However, you will have to export your HEC-HMS model output to an Excel sheet.

To my understanding, HEC-HMS has its own calibration module (or function) based on steepest gradient methods (such as Newton-Rapson rather than sampling-based heuristic optimization algorithms). In the case of using the built-in calibration tool, the calibration results should be dependent on the order of calibration parameters added. If you want to use a sampling-based method, you may want to convert HEC-HMS to HEC-1 and then use a batch file to run the model iteratively. Young

Have you done any sensitivity analysis first to find the most sensitive parameters? That may reduce the number of parameters you need to optimize, for instance, you may need to work on just 6-8 parameters instead of 18.
BTW, I believe HEC-HMS has its own optimization procedure. They have 6-7 objective functions.

My own feeling about your problem is that you should reduce parameters in your calibration study, 18 parameters in one problem is too much. I would recommend you to make a sensibility analisis and reduce the number of parameter to optimize and after that use the optimization tool that have been included in HEC-HMS. It optimization tool gives suitables result. I´m sure that if you do that you will solve your problem very easily.
