I am looking for a reliable, valid IQ test of spatial relations to visual sequencing. It should look at working memory, vocabulary, perceptual and spatial reasoning. I am comparing performance intelligence quotient (PIQ) and verbal intelligence quotient (VIQ) in order to get a measure of IQDs, like this PIQ>VIQ or VIQ>PIQ. I can't do the WISC, but something similar, that doesn't take more than 30 minutes, would be ideal. Does anyone know of such a test?
Since you mention the Wechsler scales, one possibility would be the Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence (WASI-II). This is basically four of the "best" subtests from the WISC/WAIS (Block Design, Matrix Reasoning, Vocabulary & Similarities) with norms running from age 6 to 90. It does not include any working memory tests, but you could always administer Digit Span or some other such subtest as a stand-alone measure & use the scaled score. Another option might be to use your WISC kit, but only administer a subset of the tests and pro-rate from there. This used to be quite popular, and you'll find articles about short forms of the WISC, though the publisher has been discouraging that approach since they started putting out the WASI.

Hi- Thanks for that, but because this is a pilot we have no funding yet. So I need a free test, that an undergrad can administer... should have mentioned that. Any thoughts?
That's a pretty tall order! A well-constructed intelligence test, covering verbal & visuospatial & working memory, that can be administered in under half an hour, requires no advanced training, and is free for all? Honestly, I'd be surprised if any measure exists that meets all of those requirements. If you were willing to drop the working memory element (or just do a digit-span variant on the side), you could probably use a couple of subtests from the Ability Profiler (formerly known as the General Aptitude Test Battery). This is a product of the U.S. government, intended mainly for use by career counselors. It can be downloaded free of charge, but it's up to the user to ensure that s/he is adequately trained to use it. (Yes, it comes with details Manuals and all. If you're an undergraduate, presumably you have a professor acting as your mentor?) I would suggest using the Verbal Ability and Spatial Ability subtests.

I have all that I need except one thing: a copy of the Raven's Progressive Matrices test, . I would not use the entire RSPM. So all I need is a copy of either form A or form B. Do you know anyone who has a copy?
There must be someone at your university. But be aware: the Raven isn't really either Verbal or Visual, in that the problems can be solved using either strategy. That's probably why it's such a powerful correlate of IQ.
