Any suggestions on polymers that can form a thin wire on drying. The wire needs to dissolve back either in water or any other solution. Any readings/articles suggestions would be appreciated.
the easiest way to achieve this would be electrospinning. that would be a non-wove with typically several hundred nm thick individual fibers that can be dissolved back easily if you use a suitable solvent (obviously)
How strong does your wire need to be? As Florian said electrospinning sounds like your best option. Common polymers used for this are PLA, PLGA and PCL which all dissolve in DCM, chloroform etc. There should be lots of papers out there on the electrospinning of polymers
Thank you Florian, Catherine for your answers and suggestions.
I am trying to use one of these polymers to make wires using molds containing microchannels. These wires do not need to be strong. Getting wires is good for me at this stage.
