Thanks for your answer, I wasn't aware of it. It seems more like an open repository of data to use for data mining purposes which is interesting but I am more into find published work on the connection between data analysis (DA) methods and best ways to visualize the information produced of each one of the DAs.

The visualization is actually a new approach to analyzing data together with the traditional algorithms in data mining, where analyzers may contribute their knowledge and experience to the process forming answers for analysis questions. In addition, the results from analyzing algorithms in data mining may be displayed with visualization techniques. Theoritically, there is no a common visualization method for all problems of data analyis. You may refer to basic issues of data analysis in the book "Exploratory Analysis of spatial and temporal data - A systematic approach" by Natalia Andrienko and Gennady Andrienko.

For data visualizations there are several very good software packages that are available.  Two that I am familiar with are Spotfire and Tableau.  Both will take multiple file types and allow for quick multivariate analysis.  The visualizations are quite easy to build and are much faster than excel charting.

If you are looking for some principles for data visualizations there are some excellent reference books out there by Edward Tufte.  Another resource would be Stephen Fews.  He puts out a quarterly newsletter on the subject.

I've read some weeks ago a very good reference: "Visualization and Visual Analysis of Multi-faceted Scientific Data: A Survey"

Although the paper is focused on scientific visualization, you might able to find some reference to a more general topic.
