In recent times, a bit has been done using fMRI to study the functions of the cingulate gyrus. However, this may not be able to completely rule out classical anatomical techniques of histology despite its limitations.
I am interested in doing some work on the cingulate gyrus using classical histologic techniques, any ideas?
You can always use classic methods for morphology like the Golgi-Cox preparation or cell and neurochemical stains for cyto and chemoarchitectonic analysis. My impression hower is that this work has already been done in rats and/or monkeys. See studies in the journal of comparative neurology.

The subgenual cingulate Cortex is currently under investigation for use in deep brain stimulation for depression. It would be of great interest to show the anatomical connectivity of the electrode locations with regard to the limbic network.
