Can anyone share a success story where wetland management and conservation has been achieved using community led co-designing or co-decision making efforts especially in south and south east Asia ?
The conservation of the crested ibis (Nipponia nippon) is such as case. In 1981, only two pairs of the crested ibis survived in the world. Now the number of individuals is over 7000. The conservation activities are like so called community led co-designing or co-decision. The key things are poaching ban and stopping using pesticide and fertilizer in the rice paddies. Please see our paper for details (Ma et al., 2021).

Bangladesh Government has taken a great detailed plan for the development of Bangladeshi wetland but I have no specific data on success story As far as I know, the implementation of plans are on progress.
Safi Ullah thanks for sharing this insight I came across cases of several wetlands in Nepal also known as Pokhari where community is playing a major role in conservation
