Sinkholes are more widespread than we think. I m interested to know where do they exist with as much and breif ides about their direct causes in your country. In mine , Jordan, they are proliferating in the Dead Sea area where they are causing lots of damage. Have a safe and nice day.

We have sinkholes in the dead sea. I visited the site 7 years ago. This Phenomenon has attracted me. That's why I still remember it. I am very interested to follow up what is the research studies have revealed about the sinkholes (causes & solutions). As I remember, some farmers were suddenly fall in the sinkholes during their daily work once the subsidence took place.

Thanks for your interesting question.
In Australia, the failure of the roof strata in abandoned, old, shallow mine workings is among the main reason leading to chimney collapses and the development of sinkholes. Several cases of such subsidence incidents have been observed in the Newcastle and Ipswich areas.
