As a research topic, I suggest analyzing the impact of internet marketing, including social media portals, on changing consumer behavior of citizens of individual countries, taking into account national, cultural differences for global products and services offered by globally operating transnational corporations.

I would focus on the asymmetrical flow of globalization (Western, American hegemony) influencing consumerist behaviors (through google, FB, hollywood etc, -- don't forget biased algorithms). Hence, consumerism (mass consumer behavior cross culturally) perpetuates Western cultural hegemony in a globalized environment. It's in my opinion an effective form of mental colonization of citizens across the globe.
