Hi all,
Presently i am working on prosopis. In my area there is a massive growth of this plant. i am interested to eradicate few small small patches and replant native tree species.
can any one have idea how much approx. cost to complete eradicate one acre area land from this plant?

please rethink your idea, maybe the best choice is to use P. juliflora, it has many advantages; for animal production, for instance.
anyway I do suggest to use an ecofriendly approach to cope with this specie.

I agree with you Redimo however this species is quiet invasive. Environmentally friendly approaches should be used to eradicate it. The species even causes tooth decay in livestock such as goats. This has been observed in countries such as Kenya.....

that's fine. in some south amerca arid region P. juliflora is a matter of survival for goat production, also people make nice juice from its pods.
here in Cuba we have a big problem with D. cinerea invasion, but we had to rethink as D. cinerea also have many atractive and positives points in its favour.
ecofriendly approach must be present in any desitions.

Thank you Kalufa for your comments. obviosly the condition in wich Prosopis growth in Venezuela, for instance, are not the same; the animal also have available other forajes, also water.
with D cinerea we are working to asses it impact on soil and in both direct and idirect contribution to ruminant feeding; in my profile you can see the VLIR project in wich we are working now. also there are in the web aditional information on its nutritive value, timber use, fuel, etc
