Until an unfortunate hard disk failure, we were running a Aminco Bowman Series II fluorescence spectrometer. Now we are having trouble finding the right hardware for re-installing the software (OS/2, ISA bus, hard disk
had a similar situation with a fluorolog-2 running windows 3.1 (i think). A virtual machine on windows XP running the old operating system solved the problem. Virtual machines for OS/2 exist. However, in that case we were able to use a regular PCI card. The ISA bus would seem to be the major problem here....
Our hard drive running our Aminco Bowman Series II fluorescence spectrometer also crashed. Were you able to find re-placement software (OS/2 based) or install a new version as suggested by Jeffrey Brender.
we actually found a hard drive with less than 2 GB total size (from ~1995) and installed OS/2 and the instrument software. We were lucky to find all the floppy disks from the initial installation. Importantly, also the files for the instrument calibration.
New software versions are no longer available the last company to sell the instrument was Thermo, which discontinued the product line about 2005 in Germany.
