Iron ore is finely interlocked with silica, I m looking for suitable leaching solution to remove silica. The major phases are Hematite, Iron Oxide Hydroxide, Silicon oxide, Pyrolusite and minor phases are Calcium carbonate, Calcium Iron Silicate, Dolomite .
Are you trying to save the silica in any way? I ask because the addition of calcium oxide in the pyrorefining process is done in order to react the silica, making calcium silicate, which is insoluble in molten iron. It is the "slag" which comes off the top during iron refining. But if you need to save the silica or understand its crystal form, then this would obviously not be an approach you would use.
Iron Ore processing for bulk commodity sales typically includes communution, density and magnetic seperation to separate iron bearing minerals from silica with suitable economics. Most iron ore from Canada, China, USA and some from Brazil use concentration methods to make economic products. I am not aware of any widely used, econimic leaching process at scale.
Silicon dioxide presented in your type of ore in what form? Quartz, amorphous silicon dioxide, fayalite? Have you considered ammonium bifluoride solution for your task?
