Any explanation for "variance reduction factor" in Collocated Sequential Gaussian Simulation (SGS)?

What does variance reduction factor mean when we are performing a Collocated Sequential Gaussian Simulation?

Is there any way to find/calculate an optimum value for variance reduction factor in collocated SGS?

For a little clarification, I attached an example from GS+ software.
