I am about to start a new project on gene editing (deletion of specific exons). We were planing to use a plasmid from addgene, but we are short in staff and time; thus, we are considering the use of a commecial kit, usually Cas9 protein and a cell-free in vitro transcription kit.

I know this will be much more expensive, but the fact is that we still need to buy all the bacterial culture stuff (and strain). It would be cheaper at any case to use plasmids, but what about the efficiencies? Has anyone experienced a big shift in efficiency by using commercial kits? Which kits have you tried?

Thanks in advance!
