Any easy techniques for the measurements of refractive indices in the liquid crystalline compound with the dependence of temperature?
Early I used thin prism techniques for refractive indices measurement, but I found some complication for measuring refractive indices . In Liquid Crystal, we need to calculate ordinary and extraordinary refractive indices, but in thin prism techniques, it was very difficult to get extraordinary refractive indices. So how to resolves this problem???

Another method is elipsometry but seems that is not simple (beside you need an elipsometer)

At first you have to obtain ordinary refractive index. For this purpose you can use the simplest interferometric method and non-oriented LC layer.
Than you have to prepare a cell with uniform director distribution. You have to know thickness of the cell and pretilt angel. If you know this you can obtaion phase retardation between ordinaty and oxtraodinaty waves and calculate optical anisotropy.
As a result if you know ordinary refractive index and optical anisotropy you can calculate extraordinary index.
