There are several types of innovation that may happen in an org. for instance, product innovation, process innovation, marketing innovation and organization innovation etc. These innovations are typically results from technology. When a firm adopt new technology, it has direct impact on innovation. But not necessary on the mentioned innovation, remember that the whole structure of the org can be changed if not resist too. There are empirical studies which have analyzed the relationship between innovation and technology advancement, reading those material will give more understanding. However, as per my knowledge, since my concern with it, I believe that Tech bring the 4 types of innovation plus influence the whole forum of firms.
Technologies use many areas of the knowledge, including scientific, engineering, mathematical, linguistic and historical knowledge, to be achieved practical results.
Technologies are often the result of joint advances in science and technics. Human activity as technology always precedes both.
Technology is not always a science because it has to meet requirements such as utility, usability and safety.
Innovation is a new technology that has the above qualities and can be embedded in the package.
For this reason, I would not classify innovation into just a few groups.
To me, this simply denotes a new service or product idea made commercially viable through use of a technology. Technology could be IT- software driven or a hardware -mechanical . A service sector example would be a new Banking service product offered over the internet.
Innovation is a new technology or idea that is developed to a stage where it is fully ready to be put into practice.
New technology can exist not only in production, but also in all other spheres of human activity culture, religion, music, etc.
