It is phenolic, and therefore acidic. I'd try extraction into methanol followed by adsorption on a strong ion exchange column (SAX) followed by either Sephadex LH-20 (if many acidic compounds) or simply C18. The ion exchange step removes neutral and basic compounds from the extract, so the purification is only of acidic compounds.
