Hi everyone!
I am trying to find commercially available antibodies that react with peptidoglycan from gram-negative bacteria. So far I have only found anti-PG mAb 3F6B3 (e.g. here http://www.merckmillipore.com/RU/ru/product/Anti-Bacterial-Peptidoglycan-Antibody-clone-3F6B3,MM_NF-MAB995 ), but it was raised against Streptococcal PG, and I am not sure it will react with PG from gram-negatives. Did anyone try?
Maybe there are other commercially available anti-PG antibodies?

The cell wall is composed of the polymer peptidoglycan, and most bacterial pathogens require continuous cell wall synthesis for survival. I would suggest reading this article for more information:

Much of the peptidoglycan structure is conserved between Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria, so there is a good chance that some antibodies raised against peptidoglycan from Gram positive organisms will recognize peptidoglycan from Gram negatives. If the cells are intact, it will be necessary to permeabilize the outer membrane in order for the antibody to reach the peptidoglycan of Gram negatives.

Adam B Shapiro Yes, I know there is a chance that these antibodies will react with the PG from gram-negaties. I just thought maybe someone has already checked if they actually do react. The provided links are mostly for the same clone 3F6B3 (except for the anti-staphylococcal one). But thanks anyway!

Please focus on the target. Many companies offer monoclonals to antigens representing the outer coat of bacteria or simply whole bacteria. Creative Diagnostics is one of them but there are others as well. Try getting a direct supplier as opposed to a distributor.
Hi, Alexander. Yes, I have tried to recognize peptidoglycan in a gram-negative bacteria by using this monoclonal you mention, but with no success at all. Have you achieved it? Any help would be very grateful!
