As we know, the matter of housing standards in dairy farms for example, or meat and even in poultry, is already a big and viral concern for many nations.
Lots of campaigns and media materials and advertising about how we treat/behave animals and how we grow and keep them in purpose of different dairy and farm productions.
People are asking today in different surveys to specify more space for each animal and giving access to green pastures and so on, as an example for dairy cows.
- Is the real welfare to have more green pastures for each animal in this example? or it is just what we think?
- Can't the welfare mean lesser stress for animal in anyway and still, not having each animal in it's wild life conditions (or better looking for most of people)?
- Is adaptation (having the animal in same environment since birth till the end of life period) enough for the animal to reduce stress of changes in life, even about having the all the time in roofed areas like barns and cages?
- Can't using technologies and knowledge, like providing fresh air and food and water all the time, lead the farming to a good and acceptable level of welfare for animals?
- Bringing up the costs for farmers, may lead to higher price for productions and lesser interest for customers, which kills many farms during the time. Should we ignore this and work on other sources for food?
- Any other thought or idea?
How do you think?! (regardless of having any knowledge in field of veterinary science)
