Thanks Kelly for your comment. I am going to prepare maps of fishing grounds, and may be spawning grounds and later I am going to investigate the environmental parameters, such as SST and bathymetry, which may be related to fish distribution.

from GIS data can perform spatial analysis. There are several library in R. In particular sp library that allows you to import and analyze spatial coordinates. Then we can perform analyzes and maps that you want.
