Looking to make solutions of Amplex red for a benchtop assay using lactate oxidase and HRP.
I am new to bench top work and wondering if I can make stock solutions in DMSO, and store them wrapped in foil in the freezer? Or does it have to be used asap once in solution?

I helped develop the Amplex Red reagent when I was at Molecular Probes. In my experience, a fresh solution is best.
However, if your DMSO has no water in it (molecular sieves will do the trick), then a resuspended DMSO solution of Amplex Red can be stored in the dark at room temp or 4C for a few days. Amplex Red is a pale brown in color, and the solution will be similar or even colorless. When Amplex Red is oxidized it becomes resorufin, which is a bright pink/red (depending on concentration). As long as your Amplex Red in DMSO stock is not pink, you can continue to use it.
